For first time use of the hose with the vac head, do I need to prime the hose so the pump will pick up the water?

Yes, the first time you use the hose with the vac head, you will need to flush out all the air. This can be done by holding the end of the hose against your return jet. This will blow out all of the air.

How do I vacuum my swimming pool with this vac head and hose?

Every time you use the vac hose and vac head, you will need to "prime" the hose. This can be done by holding the end of the hose against your return jet while the other end of the hose is attached to the vac head inside the pool.

When I vacuum out my pool what do I set my filter on? I have a sand filter. Back flush,waste?

If you have a waste option on your valve then I would set it at that for vacuuming. You will be discharging water so be sure that you have extra water in your pool.

This product is ok, I would recommend spending the extra money to get a heavier vacuum head, it would be easier to use.

Was satisfied with the delivery and condition of this item. It works fine on the pool bottom, not on the sides, it's not heavy enough to stay flat when pulling up the side of the pool.
