Product Description

Introducing amazing Vitro Filter Media for use in sand filters. Manufactured of recycled, crushed glass, Vitro provides an amazing improvement in water clarity over sand. Use of Vitro lowers your consumption of chlorine and other sanitizers because it cleans the water so well. Begin using Vitro in your sand filter and realize these amazing benefits:

  • Improved water clarity, purity & quality
  • Removes finer particles from your pool water than sand
  • Lowers consumption of chlorine & other sanitizers
  • Reduces backwashes
  • Use 20% less than sand
  • Filters down to 5-10 microns

Vitro fits all sand filters. Use 20% less than the recommended sand.

Sand Replacement

  • 40 lbs. of Vitroclean replaces 50 lbs. of sand. Determine the amount of Vitroclean you need by multiplying the amount of sand by 0.80.

Frequency of Replacement

  • Vitroclean lasts 50% longer than sand. Generally 7 to 10 years.

Pea Gravel or Vitroclean Pebble is recommended for all filters using more than 200 lbs. of sand. Use enough pea gravel to cover filter laterals. We recommend using 30% Vitroclean Pebble and 70% Vitroclean for best results.
For example:
300 lb. filter requires 175 lbs of Vitroclean and 75 lbs Vitroclean Pebble or 250 lbs Vitroclean with pea gravel.
500 lb. filter requires 275 lbs Vitroclean and 125 lbs Vitroclean Pebble or 400 lbs Vitroclean with pea gravel.

how do i backwash a pool

Good afternoon. After a period of time, the contaminates in a sand filter start to clog the sand to the point where water flow is significantly diminished. To clean out the contaminates, you have to backwash the sand. This guide shows you the steps in backwashing a filter.
