Yes, if you purchase the AQL2-SS-RF, you will also need the AQL2BASERF in order for it to work.

Do you repair the Hayward AQL2SSRF Goldline wireless remote control? or will the hayward AQ2-POD wireless handheld work as a replacement?

Hi Bill, We do not do any repairs or installation of pool equipment. The Aqua Pod (AQL2POD) can work as a replacement if you have a pool and spa. Also, your controller must have a software version 2.6 or higher and a wireless receiver of 3.0 or higher.

Once you get the 4 screws out, how do you separate the remote to change batteries? I see the seam running on the side but do you have to get rough with it?

Hi, Bill. The batteries for this unit are factory-installed, there is no need to open this spaside unit.
