I have a pool that is about 10,000 gallons but I am thinking of buying a salt chlorine system for pools up to 20,000 gallons. Would the larger unit be a problem?

It is not a problem to oversize a salt system. It would take the larger unit less time to produce the necessary chlorine so it is actually more efficient. When the pool volume is very close to the capacity of the salt chlorine generator (for example, the pool is 18,000 gallons and the generator is rated at a maximum of 20,000 gallons), we would recommend going up to the next size generator.

Is the salt included with the salt chlorine generator?

No, salt is not included. You would purchase the salt locally and the quantity will depend upon the number of gallons of water in your pool. Use a salt that is at least 99.8% pure NaCl. The preferred salt is evaporated, granulated, food quality, and NON-iodized. Avoid using salt with anti-caking agents like sodium ferrocyanide, also known as yellow YPS (prussiate of soda). These cause some discoloration of fittings and pool surface finishes. DO NOT use calcium chloride.

I love the the fact that I don't have to deal with Chlorine products anymore, I like the digital display, the temp sensors (Oh and the Cell has a built in thermo-resister in it as well). I hooked my heater up to this and it just works great! also the salt sensor in the Cell is really accurate (Tell you the PPM of the salt, I tested it with salt strips to compare) !! In the future I will be adding some valve controllers, and probably some remote displays. Overall, I am extremely happy with my purchase.

As an engineer that performs electrical work around the house for fun, I found the Aqua Plus system easy to install, wire and program. Other than for a neutral connection error that is my fault, I have had no issues with the unit. I notified Inyo on a Sunday when I thought I had an issue with the unit and they responded within an hour. I was quite surprised by the quick response on a weekend. The Aqua Plus panel is installed outside and is currently wired to control my pump, a fountain, low voltage lighting and 120v lighting. I plan to add additional control functions once my solar heating system is installed. I've been using the chlorinator for about two weeks. So far it seems to be performing well and the salt water in my fiberglass pool is crystal clear. The only areas of improvement that I can point to at this time include: 1. Mount the control keypad and display in the panel door so that the door doesn't have to be opened to access the keypad and see the display. 2. Provide an easy means to adjust the length of the chlorinator control cord. I have the chlorinator installed within about 5 feet of the panel and cannot shorten the 10 foot long cord. Not a big issue but it would make the installation look more organized.

I purchased to upgrade existing inground pool and to switch to a salt based sanitation system,while also changing 25 year old single speed pump to a two speed,more econamical and quite pump.Instruction on installation and programing are very good and easy to follow.But, the instruction on how to program the two speed pump ,in relationship to the solinoid/relay could be better and less difficult to science out. This control will also allow to add a solar heat system in the future with auto control of time on/off, valve control, pump and temp. control.
