Melted cords on 4 old halogen fixtures

Written on 7/13/2019 by Guest

1) turn electricity off at breaker
2) unhook old fixtures at junction boxes
3) remove lamp from wet niche, lay on pool deck if able
4) tie poly pull line using clove hitch onto old wire at junction box, wrap neatly with electrical tape
5) pull fixture cord through conduit and wet niche from pool side until pull line comes through
6) untie old fixture cord and discard
7) tie new fixture cord onto pull line using clove hitch, wrap neatly with electrical tape
8) using pull line at junction box pull new cord through wet niche and conduit, another person may be required to help push the new cord through on the pool side depending on how the conduit is routed (90’s with short bend radius vs. 45’s) leave enough cord sticking out of the niche so that the lamp can be placed on the pool deck for bulb changes
9) wire nut new cord onto electrical supply wires at junction box, tighten well and wrap each nut individually with electrical tape to the wires to prevent backing off of the nut and lessen the chance of water intrusion
10) wrap cord around fixture, secure into wet niche
11) replace cover on junction box and turn power back on at breaker
12) test fixture, ensure pool is at proper fill height prior to testing, wet niches must be wet to avoid lamp and cord overheat and failure and ensure proper grounding
