What does it mean when H5 comes up on your heater

Hi Linda, The error code "HS" appears when the water temperature is reading above 105 degrees. If that's not the case then the temperature sensor will have to be replaced.

Is this Hayward heater good for an indoor application for a commercial spa 5' X 8' X 4' deep and is it adaptable with a power vent?
Reply
Do you know if your local code requires that the heater be ASME certified as some commercial code does require this certification and this heater is not ASME certified. If you do not require the ASME certification than yes this would be a great heater for you. Based on your dimensions your spa is roughly 1200 gallons and this heater will take 140 minutes to raise the body of water 30 degrees. We do sell a Hayward indoor vent which you may view at the bottom of this page (DH150). If you require an ASME heater than I would suggest the Raypak 206K ASME heater along with indoor draft hood.

Will a gas heater operate at the low speed of a dual speed motor?
Reply
Probably not - Most gas heater will shut off at low GPM levels (20-40) to keep the heater cores from overheating - 20 for 200 BTUs, 40 for 400 BTUs. Depending on your pool system you might get these GPM levels at the low speed but generally these heaters must be run at the motor's high speed.
