my control box won't stay on, the electric power to the plug is working fine

Check the cord from the power supply to the out. Look for any damage to the cord. You could also use a multimeter to test the continuity of that cable. We discuss how to troubleshoot the power supplies in the guide titled "How to Troubleshoot a Dolphin Pool Cleaner".
