You won't burn many calories maintaining Cristal-Flo™ Top-Mount Filters.
A little two-way wrist action on the control valve puts the Cristal-Flo to work
cleaning itself. And, this is one workout routine you won't have to do very
often. Through innovative engineering, the filter's dirt-handling capacity is
maximized, which extends the time between cleanings (backwashing).

When should I change the sand in my filter?
Reply
You should change the sand in your filter every 5-7 years. You can generally tell that it is time if your pool water is not as clear as it normally is or when you notice the interval between backwashes is shorter. You can use > this guide to walk you through it.

on a sta rite T300BP-2, what should the pressure gauge read under normal operation? What is the correct way to backwash this model, and for how long/
Thanks

Hi Joe, All plumbing set ups are a little different so there is no "normal" operating pressure. What you would want to do is backwash your filter to clean the filter, once this is done note your clean filter PSI rating. Once your pressure reaches 6-10 PSI over your clean PSI reading then it is time to backwash the filter. Normally we see the clean PSI readings in the 10 - 15 PSI range.

What should the Free Board measurement be after installing the recommend amount of sand?
Reply
Hi, Joe. Unfortunately, there is not a Free Board measurement available. A total of 600 pounds of sand is required for that model filter.
