always gets the stains out from our fiberglass pool. At opening I usually need to add 1-2 quarts for stains , then throughout the season I add 1 quart about every month. It is a bit pricey but works great

Pros: does slow down reappearance of metal stains
Cons: Pricey, will have to periodically retreat for stains
I have an iron problem in my pool which results in staining of the liner.I still have to periodically treat with ascorbic acid to remove stains but I have found this sequestering agent works best for me. A little pricey but you get what you pay for I guess.Worth a try if metal especially iron staining is an issue.

Pros: Works

The Pink Stuff keeps my liner clean! I used to have staining (rust colored), but since I did an AA treatment to clean my vinyl liner I've been using this to prevent it from happening again. After over a year of using it so far so good!

Pros: Easy to use
Cons: Price
The product is known to work not only by myself but also other DIY pool maintainers. Please note that this may not remove already formed stains but will keep your pool from developing metal (iron) stains. This is a sequestering agent which prevents dissolved metal from getting out of water and deposit on pool walls and floor.

iron stain remover

Pros: works well removing iron from the water.
Cons: expensive for the amount you need
I have a fiberglass pool that suffers from iron stains. I tried numerous products but this product works the best. Jacks makes many products but claims this is specially formulated to remove iron from your pool. It worked well but I think Jacks Blue Stuff may be a touch more effective for a wider array of metals.

Pros: Works great with ascorbic acid
Cons: Don't know if ascorbic acid alone is better.
Had a pool with what an iron problem from filling with well water and had tried everything. Nothing really helped, including pillow filtration containers on inlet and outlet hoses. The water did look clearer but still had a layer of see through brownish water. I used Jack's magic and saw some improvement. BUT.. the product that worked for me was 1 lb. of ascorbic acid. (vitamin C) It made the pool amazingly crystal clear within an hour! I'll continue to use both products as they are recommended together on many pool sites. By the way, I'm using salt chlorination so that may change results for others. But, after reading reviews and my personal experience try ascorbic acid... it rocked...finally a crystal clear pool!

Cons: expensive, but aren't all pool chems?
I follow the directions on troublefreepools to get my metal stains off the surface of my fiberglass pool. It took a couple weeks, but using ascorbic acid, then this Pink Stuff worked as expected!
