Stain IDentification™ Kit
(STAIN ID KIT) is the first step in performing a successful Jack’s Magic stain removal. The Stain ID Kit is designed to take the guesswork out of removing swimming pool stains. One of the 4 tests will identify what will best remove a swimming pool stain, saving both time and money. Please Note: The water should be at least 65-70 degrees in order to insure accurate testing results. Click Here for our Swimming Pool Stain Removal Guide
How do I remove metal stains from my swimming pool wall and floor?
Reply
If you are certain that you have metal stains, you can use Jacks Magic Iron,Cobalt & Spot Etching Stuff.

My stain is in the deep end of the pool or on the wall. Can I still use the ID kit?
Reply
There are a few different ways to use the kit. You can sprinkle a small amount of each packet into the water. As the product dissolves it becomes a solution that is heavier than the water. The solution will then sink to the bottom and should begin to react with the stain. Another method is to put a small amount of the test into a sock, attach it to your vac pole and hold it directly over the stained area.

I have a Nature 2 System (or mineralization) and I have stains in my pool. What should I do?
Reply
First you should do The Stain ID Kit to determine whats needed to remove the stains. Once youve determined what will work, you will need to remove the Nature 2 System while doing the treatment.

we treat it and it comes back...we know it's iron but we can't get it to go away...we bought Ascorbic Acid Powder but it only helps for a few days and then returns

Jacks is good occasionally but if you do it too much it'll damage the surface of your pool. I'd recommend Metal Free by Natural Chemistry. A lot less harsh and it's safe to swim in. It will eliminate the metals in the water before the stains occur.

I just used this kit and was at first discouraged as no ID was made on the first 4 of 5 tests. Wow, when I got to step 5 (Iron Scale) I have never seen anything so cool. My entire top step of my pool turned from patchy tan to bright white within a matter of seconds. I highly recommend this product. Its very encouraging to finally get ID on what was staining the inside of my pool so I can take action to clean it.

Pros: ALL
Cons: the test is cheap, the treatments are expensive.
You need this product to identify your stain problem. Iron, copper and calcium scales need different procedures. You might also look at troblefreepool for ascorbic acid or citric acid directions. Jacks is the best, although not a cheap solution.
