this pentair pool heater was on a pool in a house my daughter just bought. the pilot knob is ' frozen' won' move in any direction. Before i spring for the $250 gas assembly, any way i can determine if the unit will work at all ? this could be the tip of the iceberg and i'd just as soon buy a new, current heater - thoughts? i have no idea how old it is- model 250 -

Paul, Replacing the gas vale can be the only problem with the unit but it's hard to say, however giving the age of this unit it would be a good idea to replace the entire unit. You can also have someone out to inspect the unit to see what condition the unit is in.

My pilot lights up, but the Furness will not fire up. Do you have any idea why? this is a mini max ch 250 m.

Hi Chris, there are a few possibilities as to why the heater will not fire up. Here is a guide that we put together called "The Most Common Swimming Pool Heater Problems" that hopefully will help pinpoint the issue.
