Other than price, what's the biggest difference between the 25023-0172S and the 25023-0160S. I have an 18x36 in ground pool. My filter is S7MD72. Thanks

Hello, They are two different size filters. This will be the correct one you will need for your filter., http://www.inyopools.com/Products/04200011039706.htm?Keywords=25023-0172S

MTJ-770 Socket

My old DE grids were leaking through a crack in the plastic base and causing DE to return to the pool.

The repair is super simple. I removed the top of my STA-RITE S7MD72 filter unit using the screw clamps on the side. I use a MTJ-770 clamp socket (optional) on a cordless drill to make this really quick. I removed the old grids by pulling straight up on them, and then wet and precoated the new grids with some DE. I then installed the new grids, making sure to install the small hose and air relief at the top. After tightening down all of the clamps, I turned the pump on and started to add DE to the system. I have an endless edge pool, so I add the DE to the surge tank in an underground vault. Other than that small difference, my repair should be the same as anyone else's repair.
