THERMOSTAT, CIRCUIT BOARD IID MM '97 (470179)
I have a Purex(Now Pentair) MiniMax Plus 400 Pool heater and I need the electronic circuit board. According to the diagram this is the board, but the numbers are different. The board I have has 4 module connections across the top, an ext. switch connection and two temp control knobs, one for pool and the other for spa. On the back there are 6 lights(4 on one side, 2 on the other). the number on the board is MWC052096R1. Is this the right board?

Yes this would be the proper replacement board for your heater. We found the following information in the Pentair catalog: "In January 1996, the circuit boards for Minimax Heaters were changed at the terminals by request of the American National Standard Institute (ANSI) and the American Gas Association (A.G.A.), the two approval agencies for the manufacturing of gas heaters in the United States. If you have a heater manufactured before January 1, 1996 and you receive a newer circuit board with the smaller terminals and the older thermistor has larger connectors, the larger connectors can be crimped so they will fit tight on the newer circuit board terminals."

Opened up heater control panel
Unplugged old circuit board (took picture first)
Carefully and gently used the needle nose pliers to squeeze the holders and release the circuit board
Pulling up on the board as I did it
Could not find the holders for sale at INYO but I bet they are there somewhere
Only damaged one
Snapped new board into place and plugged in the wires
Worked like it was brand new
Had two pool companies out to look one gave up without even looking
Second one diagnosed the problem (obvious once I saw the board was corroded) and cost me $100.00 bucks
Said he would get back to me with a price
While I was waiting I went online to INYO and found the board
Expecting a somewhat similar price I was taken aback when he told me the price was 3 times INYO's for the part alone
I had to laugh because he told me it would take 7-10 days to get the part
Needless to say I ordered the part from INYO and had it in three days and installed it after work in less than an hour
Two days later the pool guy called me back saying he found the part for less I told him no thanks

This worked for my Pentair pool heater. Plumber told me this part would cost $754! I checked it on this website and found it for $142! No problem getting the part within 5 days from Inyo Pool.
