CURRENT LAARS NUMBER IS R0318800 THE CURRENT VERSION IS A KIT WHICH WILL FIT MOST OF THE HEATERS THAT THE ORGINAL THEMOSTAT FIT. WILL NOT WORK ON THE ELEKTRA 2 ELECTRIC HEATER THIS IS A KIT WHICH USES A STEMCO THERMOSTAT NEW FRONT PLATE AND LABEL ARE INCLUDED, ALONG WITH MOUNTING SCREWS AND A BRACKET FOR USE WITH OIL FIRED HEATERS. THE KIT INCLUDES ALL THE ITEMS NEEDED TO REPLACE THE ORIGINAL THERMOSTAT ON GAS HEATERS.
the heater comes on and works for 5-10 minutes before stopping. what is the likely cause? thank you.

Hi Steve, Several things can cause the issue that you're having, you will need to have to the unit inspected by a service tech to diagnose what is cause the unit to malfunction.

Hi, Do you know if this thermostat will work for a (Teledyne) Telstar TGS-50? If so, does this part come with instructions?

Hi, Jim. Yes, this Thermostat Control Kit is compatible with the Laars Telstar TGS-50 filter. Instructions are not included but are available in the Telstar Owner's Manual.

I have a Teledyne Laars TGS-50 natural gas heater, manufactured in 1999. I ordered a Zodiac temperature control kit (Laars P/N R0318800), to replace my defective thermostat. But the kit does not include instructions for TGS-50 heater thermostat replacement. Are you able to provide said instructions? I downloaded the TGS-50 manual, and can find no such instruction there.

We are sorry but we do not have wiring instructions that we can send. The mfg no longer supports that heater as it is too old. Heaters have a 10 yr life span & anything older than that they will refuse to help with as they feel it is not in your best interest to put money into a unit that old.
