I cannot get the top off of this trap. Several other people have tried also. Is there a trick to this? Is there a special tool????

Hi Jackie, To remove the lid use the tabs on the lid to turn the lid to the left. If you're having issues then you have have to use more force. There is not a special tool for this strainer housing.

the threads on my pump are 2 5/16 inches outside to outside will this buttress fit my pump

Hi. The OD of the suction and discharge port are 2-3/8 inches. If you can provide me with the model of the pump you have I can confirm if the Strainer assembly will fit.
