I have a Pentair Legend pool vacuum that has started losing power, turning on it's side, and does a wheelie. The front wheels leave the surface of the pool floor. I am thinking that my backup valve is defective. My system is 6+ years old. I have a in ground vinyl lined salt water pool.

Hi, Lenny. A defective back up valve can cause some of the symptoms that you're having. However, you can test the back up valve to make sure that it's opening and closing every 3-5 minutes.

my letro legend has been stuck in reverse for months now. my inlet and exhaust has a 1 inch diameter. it seems your replacement part is 3/4 inch. how can I make this work?

Hi Steve, there are different back-up valves for the different versions of the Legend cleaner made over the years.  The Legend II uses this Back Up Valve.  Let us know the model number of your cleaner and we will be sure to recommend exactly what you need.

how do I test the back up valve to see if it is working properly?

Thank you for contacting Inyo Pools, The back up valve should be going off every 4-5 minutes and if does not shut off it should be replaced.
