My old skimmer door attached differently than this so my question is would I drill holes in my skimmer box so the spring loaded pins have a place to go besides just pushing up againt the wall of the skimmer box?

It would not be advisable to drill into the skimmer box. This could only lead to an increased chance of water leaking behind and causing damage. The spring-loaded weir gates have fairly strong springs to keep them in place.

Is there a weir with these dimensions that is screw down rather than spring loaded.

Hi Bill, so there are a number of weir and skimmer models. If you can provide us with the skimmer model, skimmer lid part number, or even the basket part number then we can confirm any weir options that your skimmer may have. Those part numbers are typically molded onto the plastic of these parts.
