i want to install this after my de filter and before chlorine feeder...the chlorine is not going to destroy it after a couple seasons?

Hi. The check valve is designed especially for high corrosive environments like being installed next to a chlorinator. It will last, I can't say forever but it will for a few seasons. The replacement Corrosion Resistant Flapper Assembly & Cover - 25830-350-800 is available if it fails.

Will this hook up to 1 1/2 inch plumbing without the need for reducers. Will this just slide over my 1 1/2 inch pipe?

Hello, Yes, 1.5" pvc would fit inside of the check valve.

The clear plastic cover on the original check valve started to leak so I purchased this part with the idea that I would just replace the cover and keep the black housing as a backup. This would avoid having to mess with cutting/replacing any of the PVC pipe. What made it challenging is that there was no info to go off of on the original because all of the labeling had worn off so not part #, etc. After quite a bit of research I was confident that this part was the correct replacement and I went ahead with the order.
Once the part showed up and I started to look closer at the original, I realized that, even though the new part was a match, it was not going to just be an easy swap out. The installers who did my pool had drilled a hole in the cover (or maybe it came like that..), placed a copper anti-corrosion device inside it and then attached a ground wire on top using the same post.
I didn't want to eliminate either of these measures since I figure there's a reasons for them so...gulp..I decided to drill a hole in the top of the perfectly new cover which I knew meant I wouldn't be able to return the part if it didn't work. It took a bit of fiddling but eventually I was able to drill the hole, reattach everything and get it to seat properly so I am now happily leak free.

(5 out of 5 stars) Nice fix for inline chlorinator

This valve corrected an old check valve that had stuck open. The Hydroseal valve fit into plumbing nicely and actually reduced distance between filter and inline chlorinator. Awesome product.
