how does this item work? does it move w/suction from the pump and how does it clean - are there any brushes that can scrub as it rolls? can it climb up a wall?

Dene, This cleaner works off of the suction of your pool. It does not have any brushes and since it is design to be used in an above ground pool it will not climb the walls.

The unit only goes backward not forward. Would you explain how to correct this flaw. Or will you tell me where to find the operation instructions for the unit. We have owned the unit for three years. Thx in advance, s

S, The Dirt Devil D2500 Above Ground Pool Cleaner does not have gears that will drive itself, it is pulled by the hose so it would appear like it is going backwards. That is just how these style cleaner works.

How does this attach? Does the hose connect directly to the suction port? How long is the hose? Does it hurt it if you need to move it to areas and manually vacuum? Thanks.

Hi Betty, You will need to connect the hose to the pool cleaner and then to your suction port. This unit comes with 32 feet of hose, it will not hurt if you move the cleaner to different areas of the pool.

to hard to connect to skimmer---does not move the direction you need it to move in---had to fiddle with it to much--was very frustrating
