My pool turned green recently. I have tried everything to clear it up but nothing is working. Can you recommend something?

There are several things that can cause a pool to turn green. You can use our How to Clean a Green Swimming Pool guide for starters. Be certain to test the water and adjust the chemical levels.

My children went swimming this past weekend and when they came out of the pool, their hair was green. What can I do to prevent this?
Reply
The green hair your children are experiencing is likely caused by oxidized metals in the water. The metal that produces the green tint is copper, which is most commonly found in algaecide, though it naturally occurs in some water. The product you will want to use is called Metal Free. I would recommend having your pool water tested for metals. The test result will determine how much of the product you will need to use.

I just filled up my swimming pool with fresh water. I shocked the pool and 20 minutes later, the water turned brown. I am running the filter system 24/7 and cleaning it out as often as possible but after 2 days, still no change. Is there a product that will help?

Without a water analysis it's difficult to say for certain but it sounds like you have excess iron in the pool. Whenever filling the pool with tap water, you want to use a metal remover to eliminate traces of iron and copper.

I have a brown silt that appears on the liner of my pool after the filter has been running for as little as one hour. It looks like dirt but is so fine that it clouds up as I try to vacuum it. How can I get rid of it?
Reply
It sounds like the brown silt may be dead algae. I would recommend aiming the return jet(s) towards the floor and using a product called Pool First Aid. It contains natural enzymes that will eat away at dead algae and other organic waste.
