how do I replace these without braking the rest of it

The cone is secured to the center rod with an e-ring. These are difficult to remove without buying a special set of pliers that attach to holes in the e-ring and spread the ring open to remove it.

How does the e-ring and washers go on?

The easiest way I have found to remove the e-ring is to get a large flat-head screwdriver. You place it in the curved side and turn. This should pop the e-ring loose. From there the handle will slid out the top. You can then replace the o-rings and washers. To put the e-ring back on takes a little more patience. Carefully place the e-ring in the slot, then with the flat-head screwdriver try to leverage it back into place.

Do you have directions on how to install the cone guide. I assume the earing goes on the rod and then the cone guide slides over it. Detailed instructions would be helpful...thanks

Hello- Unfortunately, we do not have any installation instructions for this part. From personal experience, I can tell you that the e-ring goes on the inside of the lid to hold the knob in place the cone simply slides over the rod.

May I return the Hayward star clear plus filter washer - o ring and clip (Cone kit parts) if they don't fit properly. Local pool stores don't have these parts and did not show interest in solving my Locking Knob replacement items. James

Hello James. The Hayward Pool Products Cone Kit CX900DA fits the Star Clear Plus Cartridge Filter C900, Locking Knob CX900G. Please be sure to lubricate the new o-ring once in place on the locking knob prior to placing it back into the Filter Head (top).

Hi Jack, yes, the Star Clear Plus Cone Kit - CX900DA will work for the entire series of Hayward Star Clear Plus filters, since the cartridges in them are all the same diameter - only the height of them changes for the different models.

Is there a diagram of how these parts go together? The lid flew off my unit, and I don't know the order for putting it back, and I am missing some of the parts, I am sure. Thanks for your time
