I currently have a pentair 1.25hp 230/115 volts hooked up to filter with 100 gpm. The motor on the pump is going bad and I want to replace it with a new variable speed model. Will the Superflo VS 1-1/2 hp work? If not what would you recommend?

A  Answered on 1/15/2015 by InyoPools Product Specialist Robert M.

Hello Dan - The Superflo 342000 will work as long as your supply voltage is 230. Some plumbing will be required. Also, the Superflo has 1.5" ports. If you have 2" pvc, you may want to consider the Pentair 011008. The 011008 also requires 230 voltage.

I will be replacing my pool pump within the next few weeks and am considering this model. I read a review that says this pump is noisy and has a short life. Noise will be a factor since the pool equipment is located outside the master bedroom. Your input will be appreciated.
 Reply

A  Answered on 3/10/2015 by InyoPools Product Specialist Robert M.

Hello Linda - This pump on a high speed will be as loud as any other pump. If you run this pump on a low speed, the noise will be minimal. We have not heard of this pump having a shorter life. We have heard the opposite. The variable speed pumps seem to last much longer than traditional one speed pumps.

The SuperFlo VS pump costs significantly less to operate because its variable speed technology moves water more efficiently at lower speeds.SuperFlo VS pumps bring the remarkable energy cost savings of variable speed technology to standard pools at an affordable price. They slash energy costs by up to 80%* while helping to keep your pool sparkling clean and inviting. SuperFlo VS pumps come to you from the trusted leader that launched variable speed technology to the swimming pool industry a full 5 years ahead of every other pump manufacturer…Pentair Aquatic Systems. No wonder they still outsell all other variable speed pumps combined. The SuperFlo VS pump is easy to install and easy to use. And unlike others, you don’t need to buy and install a separate timer

Hi Dave, You could go with either the 342000 or the 342001 SuperFlo Variable Speed Pump. The 342001 SuperFlo is the newer design which has a nicer control panel and has added a fan cooled motor, you can see the 342001 has fins on the motor to accomodate the fan where the 342000 does not. I would suggest the newer 342001 SuperFlo Variable Speed Pump since it is only $30 more and has some nice upgrades.

Pump installed one week ago by a licensed electrician. It is a replacement pump. I am attempting to vacuum a very dirty pool. We are doing it in small increments with me vacuuming and my husband babysitting the pump to shut off if the water flow diminishes. The last stop we got an error message 02. We have shut the breaker off and restarted several times, but continue to get the same error code.. There doesn't seem to be a clog. What should we do?
 Reply

A  Answered on 5/22/2016 by InyoPools Product Specialist Alex V.

Becky, Thank you for your question. Error code 2 indicates (Absolute Phase current limit exceeded). Per the manual: These errors can occur based on operating conditions and the UL 60730 required self-diagnostic safety software. If they do not clear after multiple restart attempts the drive should undergo a hard power cycle. Disconnect main power by turning off the breaker long enough for the keypad LEDs to turn off. After power is reconnected if one of these errors continues to reappear, the drive may need service. Also, please confirm the pump model and voltage. The 342000 pump was discontinued last year and is 220v only.
