my pond (no living fish or water plants) pump system does not have filter system. Can you place a filter cartridge inside the Hayward strainer basket to capture more refine materials. The basket measures 3 (diameter) by 8 (length) inch. Which filter do you recommend?

I would not recommend a filter cartridge because I feel like it would disturb the flow rate, but if you are wanting to collect more debris I would recommend a filter bag that would go around your pump basket. That would be part number NE280.

This strainer basket is meant for a wide range of Pentair pumps, it is not meant for use with/inside their filters. What is the model number of your pump housing?

These blue baskets do not seem to last very long, they develop a vertical split opposite the inlet in less than a year. Do you have any thicker, sturdier baskets in this size? Used in a Pentair Intelliflo. Thanks!
