Hi Tom, The Black (LINE), White (NEUTRAL) and Green (GROUND) wires connects to the motor and the 3 prong end plugs into the wall socket and twist to lock.

Hi Lora, For safety reasons an extension cord is not recommended to be used with these pump power cord. The cord have to be plugged directly into an outlet or timer.
