I was told to use silicone on my spider gasket. Is this silicone 66br what I need to use?

Yes, this is one type of rtv silicone that you can use on the under side of spider gaskets to help hold it in place.

Should this glue be applied to the entire underside of a spider gasket, or is it only necessary to apply in a few key spots?

Hello Doug.  When replacing a spider gasket it is typically not necessary to apply glue or silicone to the entire underside of the gasket.  Apply the silicone in key areas such as at the junction of every spoke and in the middle of every spoke junction on the outer ring's circumference.  Clean the diverter face to remove any leftover spider gasket remnant and/or rough spot.  Lubricate the diverter face and spider gasket prior to reassembly.

Replace torn Multi-Valve spyder gasket

Written on 6/9/2022 by Guest

1) Remove top of diverter valve.
2) Remove spyder gasket. This proved to be very tedious and time consuming since factory had glued entire gasket seat onto the valve head.
3) After making sure all of prior gasket and adhesive was removed, strategically glue and reinsert new gasket. Apply silicone lubricant to gasket.
4) Replace all additional parts to be replaced. Handle washer, spring, spring washer, 2 O-rings.
5) Reattach valve head.
