I'm looking to replace an aging Pentair P6RA6F-206L system that has a single speed 1.5 HP, 115/230 volt, 3450 rpm, 8.5/17.0 amp motor. I have an in-floor cleaning system and a spa area with a waterfall where there's no extra pump for the floor/waterfall system so although I would like a more efficient pump I don't believe a variable speed unit would be appropriate. The pool is approximately 10,000 gallons. Would this be a suitable replacement? Thanks.

Hi Ron, Yes based on the information you provided this 1.5 HP PureLine Prime would be a great replacement pump. The plumbing ports on the Prime are not in the exact same locations as your Sta-Rite pump so you will have a little re-plumbing but it should be nothing major.

We actually do not carry a Pureline Prime single speed pump that will exactly match this model but a variable speed would work better. The PL2606 has a total horsepower of 2.7 that you can dial down to what you'd like providing energy efficiency as well.

A  Answered on 5/4/2018 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

Hi Collin, The SP3210X152 is a two-speed pump and if you are looking to stay with 2 Speed then I would suggest the PL2607 PureLine Prime Dual Speed Pump if you wanted to go with single speed then this 1.5 HP PureLine Prime Single Speed Pump would be a great option. Please note that the plumbing ports on the PureLine Prime are not in the exact same location as your SP3210X152 pump so you will have some minor re-plumbing.

Hi Larry, Most dual speed pumps do require a separate controller, however, the PureLine Prime Dual Speed Pumps have a built-in digital controller meaning that you do need a separate controller. Currently have failing 1HP Hayward pump (motor bearings shot). My pool is 20 x 40 inground. Considering following options and request your opinion: a) replace with your 1HP INYO replacement pump b) replace with your 1.5HP INYO replacement pump c) replace with your 1.4HP INYO variable speed pump. This just seems like a logical option. Can you give me your opinion on this?
 Reply

A  Answered on 5/31/2017 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

Hi MT, I really like the PL2605 1.65 HP Variable Speed Pump, this pump is great because it gives you the ability to ramp all the way up to 1.65 HP for things like vacuuming, spa jets, water features, etc.. but you can also really dial the pump down for general pool filtration and that is where you will see all of your savings. With the PL2605 Variable Speed you are looking at saving between 50% - 70% on your operational cost vs. a single speed pump.

A  Answered on 5/21/2017 by InyoPools Product Specialist Lennox H.

Hi, Bob. The Whisperflo pump is a high-performance pump and the PureLine pumps are not. In order to find out if the PL2602 pump will provide adequate water flow for your pool, you will need to calculate the feet of head of your pool. Instructions for calculating your pool feet of head are located in our How To Size a Pool Pump guide.

Hi, my pool holds 30,000 gallons. My pump motor was overheating I went to look at it and I see it is only 3/4 hp it seems to be undersized. What is the proper size motor for a pool this size?
 Reply

A  Answered on 5/18/2017 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

Hi Jake, Typically for a 30,000 gallon pool you would use a 1.5 HP pump and this 1.5 HP PureLine Prime would be a good choice. You just want to make sure that your filter can handle at least 75 Gallons per minute, you should be able to find the GPM information on your filter tank.

?     Asked on 5/11/2017 by Ken

my pool holds about 26000 gallons of water , should I use a 1.5 hp pump ?
 Reply

A  Answered on 5/11/2017 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

Hi Ken, Normally a 1.5 HP would be the properly sized pump for a 26,000-gallon pool, however, there are other factors to consider like if your pump will also be powering spa jets, water features or solar. Any of those factors may require you go with a larger pump. You will also want to make sure your filter can handle the output of the pump. On your filter there should be a GPM rating and this pump will output roughly 60 GPM under normal plumbing condtions, so you will want to make sure your filter can handle at least 60 GPM.

Pool Pump Seized and Required Replacement

Written on 4/28/2019 by Guest

I went online to INYOpools.com and selected a replacement per their recommendation.

Upon delivery, I opened the box, read the instructions to determine a course of action and began disassembling the old pump. The old pump came apart easily and then I began prepping the area for the new pump. I measured and adjusted the inlet PVC and then the Outlet PVC and then began attaching the electrical wires. All in all, it was a simple task following the instructions. I primed the pump, the system came up and functioned as advertised.

Were these instructions helpful?
