How many hours per day should I run my pump?
 Reply

A  Answered on 10/8/2013 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

There are many factors to consider; bather load, gallons of water, pump horsepower, type and size of filter just to name a few. A good guideline is 8-10 hours a day. On the cooler days and early and late season, you can cut the run time down to 4-6 hours because there is usually less swimmers and cooler water requires less chemicals. In peak season, when it is the hottest, raising the run time to 10-12 hours per day will help to keep the pool clean and circulating during it’s time of heaviest use.

Does this work with any pool size and any type of filter? I have 30,000 gallons with spa and DE filter

Hi, This pump can be used with most residential pool and filtration system. You will have to calculate the "feet of head" of your pool to make sure that it can produce the flow rate needed for your pool.

The more cost efficient replacement pump for your Super Pump is the Pureline Prime, part number PL2605.

Hi. To remove the strainer cover you would turn it to the left. You may have to use a bit more force to get it but budge if it's the first time it's being opened.

Do you carry the wire terminal necessary to relocate the controller to the wall mount unit. The terminal wasn't included in the pump box or the wall mount package. All we received was the wire. Thank You

I am looking to replace an existing constant speed pump that does not have a timer. Does the pump have a built in timer, so i can adjust how many hours a day it runs? We leave our pool open all year, does the pump have freeze protection so if the temperature drops below a setting it automatically turns on despite the run times? What information do you need from the existing pump to determine its direct replacement? Thanks!
 Reply

A  Answered on 3/30/2020 by InyoPools Product Specialist Lennox H.

Hi, David. Yes, this pump has a built-in programmable timer where you can adjust how many hours a day it runs. It also has a freeze protection feature. We will need the make and model of your existing pump to determine if this will be a direct replacement.

Hi David here is the link for your replacement pump W3SP3010X15AZ Hayward Super Pump 1.5 HP which you will require. If you are in California then state law requires a Variable Speed Pump and I would Suggest the 1.65 HP Waterway Variable Speed Pump

Hi John, there could be a few reasons that can cause priming issues. Here is a guide that we put together called "How To Determine Why a Pool Pump Won't Prime" that should assist.

Hi, Joe. We will need additional info including the current make and model of the pump, the Total Dynamic Head (TDH) of the spa, and the CFM if a blower is used, and the jet model(s) to determine what pump you will need.

Hello - I have a 6 year old Hayward Super Pump model# SP2607X10 1hp with 2" piping which is overheating. Would this be a good pump to switch to? I think the piping and distance between suction and pressure pipes would be good but I don't know about power. Thanks!
 Reply

A  Answered on 5/19/2021 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

Hi Aaron, I would suggest this Hayward Super Pump Variable Speed Pump instead as it will be a drop-in replacement for your current pump, making the installation much easier.

  • Commented on 5/20/2021 by Product Owner

How does that make it an easier drop-in replacement? The old one is a 120v and the new one is 230v so I need to redo the wiring and breaker.
     Reply

    • Commented on 5/20/2021 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

It would be easier from the plumbing side of things and the plumbing ports on the pump are in the same location so no re-plumbing would be required.

My worry is the suction elbow is right next to the pump (1" instead of 10") no matter which pump I put in. Right now my pump is overheating and if I drop a $1k pump in, won't it just do the same?
         Reply

        • Commented on 5/21/2021 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

Hi Aaron yes you re-plumb and give yourself at least 10" going directly into the pump, so if that is the case than the Max-Flo VS would be fine if you are going to be re-plumbing anyway.

We live in an area where we can't get anyone to come out for 5 months so replumbing is not an option and I don't know if this overheating pump will last that long. Is my best option to buy a single speed 1hp pump until I can get it replumbed? Thanks.

If re-plumbing is not an option then I would go back to a single speed Hayward Super Pump or just replace the motor and shaft seal, you can find these parts here Hayward Super Pump Parts Breakdown

Hi Gary, This 1 HP Max Rate Tri Star Pump would be the drop in replacement. The flow rate on the 1 HP Max Rate pump is identical to that of your 3/4 HP Full Rate pump.

Hello Brent.  The Hayward Pool Products Max-Flo VS 1.65 HP Variable Speed Pump W3SP2303VSP is a good replacement for the Pentair/Sta-Rite Dura Glas 1.5 HP P2RA5F.  The port size in the Max-Flo VS is 1.5".  Hayward Max-Flo VS Variable Speed Pump - SP2303VSP - W3SP2303VSP    To facilitate installation, the Hayward Max-Flo Union Connector Kit Hayward MaxFlo II Pool Pump Union Connector Kit SPX2700UNKIT or the CMP 1.5" MIP/2" Socket Union would be beneficial.

Does this pump have easy start/stop ability, without messing up programming, for doing weekly maintenance (backway & rinse)?

Hello David.  Attached please find a copy of the MaxFlo VS Owner's Manual.  Please reference Section 6.3, User Interface Summary, page 20.   The Stop/Resume button stops the pump without disrupting the pump's programming until the button is pressed a second time, restarting the pump.
