Model # NA5102
ZeoSand® Natural Zeolite Filter MediaZeoSand is a 100% natural zeolite and a highly efficient filter media that is proven for use as a sand replacement in recreational water, drinking water, and industrial applications. ZeoSand’s huge surface area which is more than 100 times greater than sand traps more and finer dirt than sand. The natural molecular sieving of ZeoSand removes pollutants by ion exchange.
Why Does ZeoSand Give Superior Clarity? The sandpaper rough surface has 1 to 15 micron pore spaces that trap smaller particles than sand; thus, water clarity is improved. A cubic foot of ZeoSand has the surface area of 100 football fields - 100 times greater than sand. ZeoSand’s huge surface area holds more dirt than sand; therefore, the time between backwashes can be increased. How Does ZeoSand Control Chloramines? ZeoSand traps and holds ammonium ions through a molecular sieving or water softening action. Sand does not trap ammonium ions. Less ammonia means reduced eye-burning chloramines. Since chloramines are lower, chemical shock treatments are not needed as often. A twenty five pound bag of ZeoSand will trap about half a pound of ammonium ions. How Is ZeoSand Used? Typically, one 25 pound bag of ZeoSand replaces a 50 pound bag of sand. ZeoSand weighs 55 pounds per cubic foot compared to sand that weighs 100 pounds per cubic foot. To install, remove all of the sand from the filter, and repair any damaged parts. Fill the filter half way with water and slowly pour the ZeoSand into the filter. Backwash until the backwash water is clear; this will take several minutes. Turn the filter off for two minutes and let the ZeoSand settle. Backwash for an additional two minutes, and check to be sure the backwash water is clear. If the backwash water is clear, turn the multiport valve to filter and start the pump. How Long Does ZeoSand Last? Under normal conditions, ZeoSand will need to be replaced about as often as sand. After filter use, ZeoSand may be added to your garden or potted plants as a soil conditioner. ZeoSand may be discarded as a non hazardous waste

How much zeo sand for a pentair triton ii, tr140? (residential)
Is this sand particle size compatible with manufacture specs for this filter ?
"Sand to be No. 20 standard silica (uniformity coefficient not greater than 1.75) .018-.020 in diameter particle size."

Hi Doug, your Triton II TR140 requires 925 pounds of traditional sand, so you will need 460 pounds of ZeoSand. ZeoSand was made for all sand filters, so it will work great for you.

I have a Jacuzzi Lazer 250L. How much Zeosand do I need ?
Reply
I was not able to find specs for the 250L but you would use half the amount you would compared to regular sand. For example, if you have a 300 pound tank, you would use 150 pounds of Zeosand.

How much Zeobest do I need for a Muskin model FH40 Filter.
Reply
Hello Larry, depending on how much your sand filter hold you divide that by 2. So if it held 200lbs, you would get 100lbs of zeobest. I apologize, but the FH40 model didn't come up to where I could look at how many pounds came with your filter.

How much does a cubic foot weigh since my filter shows the cubic feet or sand required not the weight of sand. The amount listed is 2.4 ft3 of sand.

Hi, We will not be able to calculate cubic feet to pounds. Can you send us the manufacture and model of your unit, we can tell you how much Zeobest Sand you will need.

What is Zeobest? Is it safe?
Reply
Zeobest is a great alternative to regular filter sand. It provides DE like filtration (filters down to 3 microns), it's lighter than sand so you half the amount compared to sand. It can also decrease the frequency of backwashing. Without getting scientifically complex Zeobest comes from zeolites. Zeolites are the deposits of volcanic ash from thousands of years ago. It is NSF approved which means that it meets national health and safety requirements. It's also safe to use in all sand filters.

So if I have a sand filter that takes 175# of sand what of your product do I need?
Reply
If you have a 175 Lb. sand filter then we would suggest 87.5 lbs. of Zeobest (175 / 2) Since the Zeobest is only sold in 25 lb. increments you would need to purchase 100 lbs. You may view the 25 Lb Zeobest here http://www.inyopools.com/Products/01300006001557.htm and the 50 Lb. Zeobest here http://www.inyopools.com/Products/01301202001558.htm
