True Union Spring Check valve. Easy entry removable body, for visual inspections or cleaning. Available in clear. Each valve is specially designed to be disassembled by unscrewing the nuts in line leaving the tail pieces solvent cemented to the pipe. This true union allows you to remove the body for repairs, or cleaning, even providing the opportunity to change the body or spring tension. The 170020 valve is white.

This check valve comes with either 1/2 lb or 2 lb springs. When would I need a 2 lb spring?

Most systems will only require a 1/2 lb spring. The 2 lb spring is required for situations with greater head or backflow pressure. An example would be solar panels mounted on an 8' high roof.

Can the 1700C15 check valve be supplied with Viton seat material. EPDM doesn't have very good compatibility with chlorine and doesn't provide satisfactory service life.

installed this valve on the suction side of my new pump. Now my pump won't prime. I think the suction from the pump won't pull the spring valve open?

Hi. This check valve has a 1/2 lb spring, your pump should be sufficient to open the mechanism. I would check to see if the valve was installed correctly. The arrow pointing towards the pump inlet.

The check valve works great and is easy to install. If you order this from the pool store is will cost 2 time the cost.

Cons: Unsure about corrosion resistance to chlorine
I used this as a check valve to protect my pool heater from an in line chlorinator. It's not the one recommended by the manufacturer of the chlorinator(Rainbow), but theirs wasn't built with the screw on unions. This made it really easy to install the chlorinator, and will make any future repairs equally easy.
