Product Description

The Aqua Trol Electronic Chlorine Generator (also known as a salt chlorinator) is designed specifically for above ground pools up to 18,000 gallons. The Aqua Trol has all the same functions and features of the Aqua Rite but with a lower chlorine output.

The Aqua Trol also has an integral time clock for control of the pool filtration pump. Since many above ground pools already have a single electrical outlet for the filter pump, the Aqua Trol is designed with an outlet (timer controlled) for the filter pump to plug into, the Aqua Trol then plugs into the original outlet the filter pump was using. The savings on chlorine and electrical power alone (if the pump was previously running 24 hours), will have the Aqua Trol paying for itself in just a few short years. The Aqua Trol system typically installs in less than 30 minutes and is very easy to operate.

Convenience

  • Make your own chlorine.
  • Make your own pure fresh chlorine everyday and control filter pumping times.
  • Evenly disperses chlorine through the pools return jets while the filter cleans the pool water.
  • Controls pool filtration pump times to ensure just enough filtration to keep pool crystal clear - prevents large electrical bills by not letting pump run a wasteful 24 hours a day.
  • Provides 100% of your pool sanitation needs automatically
  • Simply test your pool water weekly and adjust the dial for more or less chlorine as needed.
  • Automatic pool filtration and chlorination everyday, whether your at home or away
  • 1 yr limited waranty

Beautiful pool

  • Crystal clear pool water-you'll notice the difference!
  • Water so clear and inviting, you will love to be swimming.
  • Easy to maintain the right amount of chlorine without any nasty chlorine smell and irritation.
  • Algae and bacteria are a thing of the past because they never even get a chance to start to growing.

Soft water

  • Water has a smooth, soft, silky feel
  • No more itchy skin
  • No more red eyes
  • No more hair problems

Cost savings

  • Pays for itself in an amazing 2 - 3 swim seasons!
  • Provides 100% of chlorine requirements for all above ground pools up to 18,000 gallons.
  • No more chlorine tablets, granules, powders, floaters, and liquids.
  • Automatically reduces filter pump times by controlling the number of hours the filter pump runs.
  • Less use of algaecides and other specialty chemicals
  • Bathing suits don't bleach out and wear out prematurely.
  • Pool liners last longer due to constant chlorine levels, rather than unhealthy highs and lows of traditional chlorine addition
  • The kit included in the Aqua Trol provides the necessary plumbing components for either 2" (51mm) rigid PVC piping installation or 1½ - 1¼" (38-32mm) flexible hose installation.

Does the aq-trol-rj-hp-tl have the option of being hard piped in place using pic or is it just flexible hoses
 Reply

A  Answered on 6/2/2016 by InyoPools Product Specialist Lennox H.

Hi, The RJ unit can be hard plumbed from the filter to the cell, but you will have to the special fitting to connect the cell to the pool as shown in the AquaTrol Owners Manual.

Is the flow switch direction important?
 Reply

A  Answered on 10/8/2013 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

Yes. The flow switch must be mounted so the arrows on the switch it’s self go in the direction of flow. Also, the flow switch requires 12 inches of straight pipe before the water enters the part to ensure there is no turbulence inside the switch compartment causing the switch to display “no flow” in error. Also, the switch needs to see at least 11GPM of flow to properly close the switch.

Are the units safe to use with pool covers?
 Reply

A  Answered on 10/8/2013 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

Yes but, pool covers should be removed every few days to keep the corrosive gases from building under the cover causing corrosion or other forms of damage to the pool equipment.

Is cell direction important?
 Reply

A  Answered on 10/8/2013 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

The cell can be mounted in any manner necessary (EXCEPT FOR TROL RJ UNITS – THAT CELL MUST BE MOUNTED TO THE SIDE OF THE POOL AT THE RETURN JET) be it horizontal or vertical, and the cord can be mounted upstream or down stream, the cell is non directional.

Can I use rock salt?
 Reply

A  Answered on 10/8/2013 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

Rock salt is not an option. Rock salt has entirely too many impurities and could cause some issues with the pool water, or pool surfaces.

Do I have to use the pump timer? Can I run my pump 24 hours a day?
 Reply

A  Answered on 10/8/2013 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

The Aqua Trol will not generate chlorine if when the pump timer is off. If you want to run the pump continuously, either pull out all the trippers on the timer or else put the manual switch on the timer (small button near the center of the timer) into the "1" position.

How much salt does the system require?
 Reply

A  Answered on 10/8/2013 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

The Aqua Trol works best with approximately 3200 ppm salt, which is roughly the equivalent to a teaspoon per gallon. However, the Aqua Trol® will operate with salt levels anywhere from 2700 ppm to 3400 ppm.

I received the AquaTrol RJ Chlorine Generator but there is no flow switch. Is there supposed to be one?
 Reply

A  Answered on 4/30/2013 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

According to the AQTROLRJ AquaTrol RJ Chlorine Generator owner's manual, return jet units (-RJ option) will NOT have a flow switch.  The manual further states that the RJ installation "does NOT require a flow switch--however it is very important that the cell be mounted vertically directly below the return jet in order to allow the gases produced in the cell to naturally dissipate in the pool."

I am confused. The photos all show the generator and the turbo cell as a package. Does the turbo cell come WITH the generator or is this the price of JUST the generator and then you purchase the turbo cell separately? Thanks
 Reply

A  Answered on 5/22/2010 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

This price is for the complete AquaTrol with Power Supply and Turbo Cell.

I see you have a couple salt chlorine generators for above ground pools. Can you tell me what you would recommend and why?
 Reply

A  Answered on 5/10/2008 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

I would suggest the AquaTrol Salt Chlorine Generator as it is much higher quality product than the ChlorEase. The AquaTrol has much more titanium coating on the blades of the salt cell which makes the salt cell last much longer, so you should get about 4-6 years out of the salt cell on the AquaTrol. The AquaTrol comes in several models first you can get in an HP model which would be installed in the plumbing next to your pool pump or you can get it in an RJ model which would hook up directly to the return jet on your pool (Both models perform identically, you would just need to choose the one that would work best for your application - the RJ is quite a bit less and operates the same) Lastly the AquaTrol is available with a standard 3 prong plug or a Twist Lock depending on the electrical receptacle you have available to you. What is the difference between the Aqua Trol HP and RJ?
 Reply

A  Answered on 4/6/2008 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

The HP (Hose Pipe) version is installed in the hoses/pipes next to your pool filter, where the RJ (Return Jet) version the cell is mounted directly to the return jet on the side of your pool. Both units work exactly the same but you would need to determine which one would be easier to install from a plumbing stand point.
