What is the difference between the W490R and the W491R vac plate? Which one would work on my skimmer?

The only difference between the W490 and W491 is the skimmers in which they will work on. If you could provide us with the model of your current skimmer we could let you know which vac plate would work for you. You should be able to find a manufacture part # and name on the lid of the skimmer or on the weir door of the skimmer. If you could email us any this information we could reccomend the proper item. The only difference between the W490 and W491 is the skimmers in which they will work on. If you could provide us with what skimmer you are using I can let you know which one would be best for you.

I just purchased this hayward skim vac plate and am trying to insert the adjustable standing pipe into the skim plate and cannot get it to go down or screw it through the plate to get it shorter to fit. Its impossible to twist to get it to move. Should i put some Vaseline on the pipe to get it to slide better?

Hi. The Stand Pipe is to be screwed into the Vacuum Plate. You can try applying some water-based lube to the stand pipe.
