Will a gas heater operate at the low speed of a dual speed motor?
Reply
Probably not - Most gas heater will shut off at low GPM levels (20-40) to keep the heater cores from overheating - 20 for 200 BTUs, 40 for 400 BTUs. Depending on your pool system you might get these GPM levels at the low speed but generally these heaters must be run at the motor's high speed.

What is the difference between an Electronic and Millivolt ignition?
Reply
The basic answer is that Millivolt is the old style of ignition, using a standing pilot light. While the electronic ignition uses a spark start system like a gas grill. Electronic ignitions are more efficient in gas usage and also are better suited for high wind areas where a pilot light might get extinguished.

Are your heaters suitable for salt water pools?
Reply
Gregory, The Jandy Legacy Heaters are suitable for salt water, however a heater with a cupro nickel heat exchanger will offer added protection in a salt water environment.

I am repeatedly running into a "high temp fault". My vendor has fixed the unit 3 times for the same issue.

can this unit be converted to lp gas
Reply
You would need to replace the gas valve, manifold assembly, and orifice set. I recommend giving Jandy a call, 800-822-7933, to confirm there would be nothing else you need to convert it from natural gas to propane.

(5 out of 5 stars) Pool heater needs better directions
Reviewed By: Gretchen E. from Birmingham,AL ()
Pros: Works great heats well.
Cons: Install to get this to start was more complicated than it needed to be.
The pool heater is great. It has heat the pool up very quickly. There were some problems getting this setup. We (my husband and I) ran the gas line. When we tried to start it, it wouldn't start. So we ran another gas line off the main. It didn't start again. There was a continuous error of check ign. We had wired this in as 120, this come from the factory setup for 240. There were several steps electrically that needed to be done that was not included in the directions. We were going to send this back until we looked at the chart in the book and compared that to the unit. We checked te voltage and the main circuit board was only 14v and was supposed to be 24v. That is what lead us to this being incorrectly wired.
