Product Description

Raypak's Heat Pumps feature exclusive DuraSteel powder-coated cabinets, 3 blade swept wing fangs, and a best in class warranty service.

Compact Model Standard Features:

Cabinet Durability

  • Exclusive DuraSteel™ Powder-Coated Cabinet
Same rugged steel construction used by all the major air conditioner manufacturers. Fully louvered steel jacket protects the evaporation coil from storm debris, hail, and harsh weather. Not to mention the winning goal in a backyard soccer match. A plastic cabinet is no match for the all steel Raypak cabinet.

Quiet Operation

  • 3 Blade Swept Wing Fan
Precision engineered and tuned for our heat pump. This means more air over the coil which translates to greater efficiency all while being whisper quiet!
  • Extremely Tough Composite Base
Rustproof and ultrasound deading base material keeps your heat pump up and running for years while holding sound levels to an absolute minimum.

  • Scroll Compressor
Scroll compressors are quiet and efficient compared to piston type compressors. They provide higher efficiency, lower sound levels, superior durability, and unsurpassed reliability. The unique design of a scroll compressor actually wears in over time, not out!

Titanium Heat Exchanger

  • Spiral Titanium Tube
The spiral titanium tube heat exchanger provides a corrosion-free waterway that can withstand the abuses of harsh pool chemistry. The spiral tube helps reduce deposit build-up and increases efficiency by performing a “scoop-and-lift” action.
  • Internal Automatic Water Bypass
  • Plumbing Connections Off-set 1-1/2” PVC union connections

Digital Controls - Basic Functions

  • Pool/Spa Control
Your digital heat pump pool heater can be set to have a different target temperature for your pool and spa. This allows you to dial in just the right spa temperature and never have to adjust it again. The pool can be set to a lower, more energy saving temperature.
  • Remote Compatible
The digital heat pump pool heater can be easily controlled by most two-wire and three-wire remote systems. The digital display will flash “Remote” to let you know that it is under control of a third party automation system. Simply press the up and down arrows for 5 seconds to release the control from the remote mode and regain local control.
  • On Board Diagnostics
Tells you, the homeowner if there is a problem. Provides the service technician with detailed diagnostic information in real english.

Digital Control - Built-in Mini Automation

  • Solar Priority Control
Allows solar to be the primary heat source and your heat pump as a backup booster.
  • Heat Pump Priority Gas Heater Back Up Control
Heat pump is the primary source for heat with gas as a booster when needed.
  • Multi Unit Control
Stages heaters ability to come on by delaying the start.
  • 3-Way Valve Control
Control and program 3-way valves to work with pool and spa mode on digital control. No external parts to buy.

why is flexible pipe not suitable for a Raypak pool heat pump?

A  Answered on 10/8/2020 by InyoPools Product Specialist Joe S.

Good day,If you follow the guidelines of the install. You would be able to use the Flex PVCWater connections from the unit to the main return line can be PVC pipe or flexible pipe approved for the purpose and, in either case, should be at least equal in size to the main pool/spa circulation piping. 4. Shut Off/Diverter valves, preferably three-way valves which allows for a bypass route, on the inlet and outlet lines of the HPPH are required if: • water flow to the unit will exceed 40gpm (151lpm) for 2450-4450 models or 80gpm (303lpm) for 5450-8450 models • to protect (completely bypass) the unit from any harmful chemical treatments (i.e. Acid wash, back-to-back super chlorinators, stain treatments, etc.); or • to be able to isolate the unit for service/repair or freeze preparation and still allow pool/spa circulation to continue

We have a 30' round above ground pool. Is he 80k btu unit sufficient to give us a longer season? We have a solar cover that we use but it would be nice to extend our season.

A  Answered on 4/21/2020 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

Hi Jack, If you are looking to extend the season by a month at the beginning and end of the season then yes this 80,000 BTU heat pump would be sufficient. Based on the price difference I would go with this 119,000 BTU Raypak Heat Pump as you will get a lot more heating ability and it is currently only $120 more than the 80,000 BTU.

A  Answered on 3/30/2020 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

Hi Mike, Yes this would be a great Heater for your application and is the one we recommend. You would be fine leaving this in the elements and would not need to be brought indoors for the winter.

I have an above ground 18x33 oval pool. 54" inches high. roughly 14,000 gallons in Iowa. I would like to heat from May 1 to Sept 30. What size would be sufficient?

A  Answered on 10/10/2019 by InyoPools Product Specialist Steve M.

Todd, I would suggest the Raypak Compact Series Heat Pump 80,000 BTU - 016631 at minimum for your 18' x 33' pool. The higher you go in BTU the faster you will get your water to temperature and would be a matter of preference if you wanted to go higher.

A  Answered on 6/9/2019 by InyoPools Product Specialist Lennox H.

Hi, Kevin. Other factors like your geographical location, desired temperature and if a solar cover will be used are needed to determine if this unit will be sufficient for your pool.

  • Commented on 6/9/2019 by Product Owner

I live in Ohio and I do have a use a solar cover. I have read that a 83k unit is good up to 22000 gallon. With the use of the solar cover, the water temp is in the low 80's in the spring and fall. We would like it to stay in the mid to upper 80's.

    • Commented on 6/13/2019 by InyoPools Product Specialist Lennox H.

Hi, Kevin. This unit will be sufficient to keep your pool in the mid 80 from May - September.

Hi, Ryan. That is correct, these units are not set up to where you can use flexible hoses. It has to be hard plumb.

I have a 11,000 gallon inground pool and live in maryland . Pool size is 34 x 14 is the RayPak heat pump 85,000 BTUs the correct unit for my pool.

A  Answered on 4/9/2018 by InyoPools Product Specialist Andy O.

Hello Lenny- Based on the information you provided, a pool in Maryland with a square footage of 476 would require a Raypak Standard 140K BTU Digital Heat Pump - 016033 to raise the pool temp. to 82 degrees from May to September. I would also still recommend a solar blanket or Cover Free with the unit.

We are putting in a new fiberglass pool in NJ. . 32' x 14' 11,500 gals. What size heat pump would I need?

A  Answered on 5/5/2017 by InyoPools Product Specialist Stacey M.

Hello Jim, this would depend on what months you would like to swim and desired temperature you would like the pool to stay at.  So if desired degree level was 80 degrees in April-November that would be achieved with this unit. I would highly recommend a solar blanket to lock in heat and avoid evaporation.
