Need help. Purchased a new 40-ga bulb for sv150t illuminator. Installed it the other day. Bulb came on, fan didn't. Installed a new fan and now the bulb doesnt come on but the fan does. Any ideas. Thanks, Doug

Hi Doug, If the bulb is turned on without the fan cooling it, the bulb failure will result very quickly. This sounds like what happened.

can you use an LED bulb instead of a metal halide if you remove the ballast and is the ballast part of the 40-0001 metal halide light

Hi Ralph, Unfortunately, you can replace this lamp with a LED bulb.

If I have the old casing, can I just replace the bulb? Is the old casing critical to the functioning of the new bulb?

Hello Sergio, depending on how long you've had your light and the condition its in, I would say the fan isn't functioning and your casing is rusty I would replace the whole light.
