How can you tell if the Unichlor anode is defective? How can you tell if the cathode is defective?

The anode will start getting smaller like a bar of soap. On the cathode, the cathode grate will start separating. You will start to have less power when operating if the anode or cathode are going bad.

does the fiber washer go on the inside or the outside of the uniclor chlorinator.

Anode works great. I didn't realize these needed to be replaced after a few years. My Unichlor 1200 is making enough of chlorine now to keep my pool levels up.
