I purchased a light repair kit #05501-0007. Cleaned the housing and install kit. Has a small leak. Tried again. No luck. Any ideas?

Hello Mike, Did you notice when you were cleaning the housing any cracks or fractures in the housing/niche itself?

Hello, would this fit my gasket #05501-0005? I just replaced my gasket and now need to replace the metal clamp and wanted to know if this will fit it. Thanks!

I just pulled the pool light out of the pool and took it apart. The faded tag says it is a Sta-rite Sunbrite model#5501-xxxx. I'm going to at least need a new gasket and probably a new clamp. Plus a couple of 100w 12v halogen bulbs. What do I need to order.

I need to replace the gasket on a Sta-Rite Sunglow Model #05533 in ground swimming pool lite, (pre 2000) I purchased the replacement gasket from my local pool supply company but the new gasket is slightly larger and the stainless clamp ring will not fit over the new gasket.. Suggestions?

Pool light failed

Written on 8/16/2020 by Guest

Removed light and cable from pool. Taped end of cable to 1/4 inch nylon line to pull line from junction box thru conduit and light enclosure to deck.

Repaired light inside house as reassembly is always difficult for me. No leakage detected but bulb was bad. Replaced bulb and reassembled using new gasket and clamp.

Put old gasket on floor and placed light on gasket, faced down. Used body weight to squeeze gasket until I could get the clamp in place and tightened. It took more than one try but in the end the light went together properly.

Reinstalled light in pool using nylon line to pull cable into place.

A Sta-Rite Sunglow pool light needed a new bulb.

Placing the light fixture on a towel beside the pool with the power off, I removed the clamp and lens. The old bulb had corroded somewhat due to a small amount of water that had entered. The bulb separated from the metal base so I needed to carefully extract it from the socket using needlenose pliers.

I was then able to put in a new LED bulb and test it. The gasket was in bad shape, so I needed to order a new one. That old gasket is no longer made, so I needed to order the newer, thicker one which also requires the newer, larger clamp.

I got the Clamp Repair Kit which has both the new improved gasket and clamp. Reassembling the light was a real trick.

First thing is to replace the short bolt on the clamp with a longer SS bolt that fits into the same nut, then place the old clamp below the face ring so that the lens is off the deck during re-assembly. Put the new gasket on the lens paying attention to the arrow on the gasket that says "lamp". Put a knee on the back of the light and press down hard while working the clamp around the gasket and over the lip inside the face ring.

After some struggle and cussing, you can swing the nut into place. Tighten your bolt (that slightly longer SS bolt that you had to find yourself). Now do the bubble test by submerging the light. No bubbles means you did it right. Good luck, you will need it.
