I couldn’t get the cap off to save my life, my pool guy had put Silicone on the threads For some reason and it wasn’t budging. I even broke the special wrench took for my filter trying to get it off.
I ended up drilling two 1/2” holes in the cap and putting a piece of 1/2” conduit through bolt to act as a lever to turn the cap and break the threads free from the silicone. After that I clean up the filter to get the silicone off the filter threads, then just installed the new cap after transfer my pressure gauge from the old cap to the new one. Just needed a drill, 1/2” boring bit, 1/2” x 2’ metal conduit, two wrenches.
