My barracuda throws a track off constantly. I noticed, among other things that the drive wheel seems to have a fair amount of play in it. Replace the directional drive or what??? It's the black drive wheel that has the play, should it be replaced?? Or is there a berring ??? I recognize that the drive tracks should be replaced frequently.

Hello Yes it will be best to change out the direction control device and the tracks

The right track on our cleaner doesn't seem to run as well as the left side and so it doesn't get good coverage of the pool for cleaning. Should I buy a new right side control or is it the main control unit?

You can replace the right side and that should correct the problem. I would also recommend inspecting the MX8 DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY - R0525100 to see if the white gears are worn. If so, replace that part as well.

We have had our MX8 for about three years now and the Direction Control Device on both sides stopped working. Inyo pools had the part in stock and we were able to get it quickly.

I have this product for about 3 years. It does a fairly good job. I just did not expect to replace both directional gear boxes. I have the machine on 7 days on full speed from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm and from 12:30 to 4:30pm on low speed I have had to replace the drive belts which I can understand as the treads ware off and that is expected. I would not buy another one.

Pros: Cleans the pool great!
Cons: Control Devices - unreliable ~$40 each time
I bought the MX8 two years ago, so far have replaced the "B" side once and the "A" side twice and the latest one only lasted a few days. Inyo Pools has been great so far, but this seems like a defective product and hope the manufacturer steps up.
