What is the difference between the clear and the blue solar blanket?
Reply
First, the clear solar blanket is thicker than the blue; the clear is 14 mil thick while the blue is 12 mil. Secondly, the clear allows the sun to pass through the blanket thus heating the water better. The blue blanket tends to absorb the heat itself so the blanket gets hot, not the water. Lastly, the clear blanket has a 6 year warranty as opposed to the 5 year warranty for the blue.

Does the solar cover come with an overlap like a winter cover does?
Reply
No, the solar cover does not come with an overlap. A solar cover is designed to sit on top of the water's surface and fits on the inside perimeter of the pool wall.

What color are the Magni-Clear solar covers? They appear to be silver in color.

The Magni-Clear solar blankets are clear in color. They look silver in the photo due to lighting and background effects used to show detail.

Is it necessary to cover the blanket while stored on the reel
Reply
It is not necessary to cover the blanket while stored on the reel. You can if you choose to though to keep from to much sun wearing away at it.

Do clear covers cause chlorine to be burned away more quickly than blue covers? Why or why not?
Thanks.
Reply
Hi Noly, The clear cover can cause the chlorine level in the pool to burn away more quickly because it allows more sun light to pass through heating the pool faster. The higher the temperature of the pool water is the more chlorine you will go through.

If I use your 16 x 32 clear cover and lay it over the light brown automatic pool cover I now have, will I see the color of my cover through yours? Are you able to see my cover or does your cover have a colored background?
Reply
Hi, the clear cover is not completely transparent. It is slightly opaque. It is likely you will see some color through the blanket. The blanket is designed to lay bubble side down on top of the water for the most effective way to heat the pool.

Is the clear solar cover really 14 mil throughout the cover
or is it 14mil on the edges and many less mil on the actual cover?
If the bubbles are 8mil for example, they will disintegrate quickly and splinter from sun, chemicals, rolling and unrolling - all of these are normal usage for a solar cover, If less than 14mil throughout, the cover is trouble for skimmers and filter, flake in pool, do not heat the water and thus make for a disappointed (and vocal) customer.

Is this a good blanket for a pool that is being heated? Do you find that there is a problem with billed up mildew and if so what is your recommendation.
Reply
Hi, Tom. The Blue Solar Covers are better for pools that already have a heating system. Mildew only occurs when the cover is stored improperly. Rinse the cover off then completely dry it off and store it in a dry area.

What solar pool cover would you recommend for our in-ground 18 x 36 pool with a heat pump? Clear vs Blue? Our last few solar covers have broken down and the plastic circles are floating all over in our pool.

Hello, I would recommend the Clear Solar Blanket 18' X 36' Rect. - NS525 the clear solar blanket is thicker than the blue; the clear is 14 mil thick while the blue is 12 mil. The clear allows the sun to pass through the blanket thus heating the water better. The blue blanket tends to absorb the heat itself so the blanket gets hot, not the water. Lastly, the clear blanket has a 6 year warranty as opposed to the 5 year warranty for the blue.

Hi, we have a pool heater and live in the CA bay area. I have four questions.
1. Would the clear cover help with heating the pool therefor lower heating cost?
2. Or would the clear cover heat the pool, but then, since it is clear, allow more heat to escape?
3. Would the blue cover be more efficient in keeping the water warm after the pool heater heats it.
4. Or is it a toss up as to which would save on heating cost?
I'm confused.

They both trap the heat the same, but the clear solar cover will allow more sun rays to enter resulting in the clear cover to heat pool faster.

I have a pool in Atlanta with your leaf cover on in the winter (great product). Can I keep a solar cover in the winter under leaf cover? And, will a solar cover reduce evaporation?
Reply
Good afternoon, you can place the leaf cover over top the solar cover, and yes the solar cover will help to reduce evaporation and maintain your pool's temperature.
