What is the difference between the clear and the blue solar blanket?

First, the clear solar blanket is thicker than the blue; the clear is 14 mil thick while the blue is 12 mil. Secondly, the clear allows the sun to pass through the blanket thus heating the water better. The blue blanket tends to absorb the heat itself so the blanket gets hot, not the water. Lastly, the clear blanket has a 6 year warranty as opposed to the 5 year warranty for the blue.

Does the solar cover come with an overlap like a winter cover does?

No, the solar cover does not come with an overlap. A solar cover is designed to sit on top of the water's surface and fits on the inside perimeter of the pool wall.

How much heavier is the clear vs blue cover? We have a 30’ round pool with a 8ml blue cover now that gets heavy to get on and off and wondering if we will be able to handle the clear cover

Hi. The clear cover is roughly about 10 percent heavier based on the mil rating. You will definitely need a solar reel if the 8 mil cover is heavy to take on and off.

Hello Vincent. There is no data supporting an increase in salt usage in a SWG Pool when covered by a Solar Blanket. The heat gain as a result of a solar blanket depends on how much of the pool is covered and how much direct sunlight the pool is exposed to. On average, the use of a solar blanket that provides full surface coverage can increase pool water temperature by 10 degrees on a sunny day. Can I get this cover so that it also includes covering for the steps area which is outside the 18 x 36 foot area at the center of the shallow end.
Good day, at this time we do not offer a custom-shaped solar cover. You would need to order a cover larger than the pool and trim it down to size.
