What is the difference between the clear and the blue solar blanket?
 Reply

First, the clear solar blanket is thicker than the blue; the clear is 14 mil thick while the blue is 12 mil. Secondly, the clear allows the sun to pass through the blanket thus heating the water better.  The blue blanket tends to absorb the heat itself so the blanket gets hot, not the water.  Lastly, the clear blanket has a 6 year warranty as opposed to the 5 year warranty for the blue.

Does the solar cover come with an overlap like a winter cover does?

No, the solar cover does not come with an overlap. A solar cover is designed to sit on top of the water's surface and fits on the inside perimeter of the pool wall.

What color are the Magni-Clear solar covers? They appear to be silver in color.

The Magni-Clear solar blankets are clear in color. They look silver in the photo due to lighting and background effects used to show detail.

What do I use to hold down my in ground solar cover? Can I use water tubes?

Solar covers (or solar blankets) are designed to sit on the surface of the water inside of the pool. The cover does not extend onto the top rails or pool deck. You will likely need to carefully trim the solar cover with a pair of scissors to ensure a proper fit.

What is the difference between the Magni Clear Solar Covers and the Clear Solar covers? I see that one is 16 mil and the other is 14 mil but are there any other differences? What is the difference actual weight for the entire blanket size 18X40. I am going to roll the blanket up onto a roller and I have heard that the heavier is not good for a roller? thank you,

Hi, The difference between the Magni Clear Solar Covers and the Clear Solar covers is the mil and sizes selection that are available. The Magni Clear Solar Covers are 14mil and the Clear Solar Covers are 16mil. The Magni-Clear Solar Blanket 20' X 40' Rect weighs about 52lbs and the Clear Solar Cover 20' x 40' Rect. is 82lb.

How can I get a sample of the clear cover to make sure we like the way it looks in our pool? Can the cover be trimmed to fit the curves in our pool and hot tub? We have a fountain in both the pool and spa. Can they be on under the cover?

Hi Carlos, Unfortunately sample are not available for the Solar Covers. This Solar Cover can be cut to fit the shape of your pool but may need a separate cover for the hot tub depending on how it's configured. The fountains will have to be off when the pool is covered.
