My wired remote has tag on the board labeled AQL-REMOTE-PS-8. Is the AQL2-WW-PS-8 remote compatible as a replacement wired remote?

Hi, Chuck. This PS-8 Wired Wall Mount - White - AQL2WWPS8 will be compatible only if your main software is r2.00 or higher. To locate the main software enter the diagnostic menu then main software revision. If not you will need to replace the Main PCB - GLX-PCB-PRO

Hi, David. If the heater has already been set up within the configuration and setting menu. You would Press the Button that is assigned to the Heater, it will turn it on. You can review the  ProLogic PL-PS-8 Operation Manual

the system seems to work ok except. when it turns off, the system resets the valves to spillover mode. In this mode the spa drains to the pool level. can i change it so it stays in pool mode.

Hi Jon, when the spa drains down to the pool level when the pump is off this is most often associated with a bad check valve in the plumbing for the spa. Once that is replaced that should eliminate the draining issue.
