What is the difference between a niche and a light?
 Reply

A niche is a housing that is permanently mounted in the pool wall, while the light is a “fixture” that is secured into the niche.

Hi Richard, Could you let us know if your pool is concrete, vinyl liner or fiberglass? Also does your niche measure roughly 12" across or 6" across? Simply click the reply link below to answer these questions and we will be able to suggest the proper replacement.

How does one properly seal the light cord exiting the rear of the niche? SPX0608CP cord seal kit is stated to work on the SP0607U and SP0608U, but only fits the 608U Jiffy niche and not the 607U duraniche. Please advise.

Inground pools that use a light niche like this one are installed so a sealing plug is not necessary.  The conduit should be glued together like other PVC pipe so it is leak-free and terminated above the surface of the pool so, even when it is full of water, nothing leaks or siphons out of the pool.  Sealing them would make light replacement difficult.  Having said that, there are products designed to seal up every model of light niche for pool owners who want to eliminate the niche conduit when leak-testing the pool like these cord stoppers.
