I just bought a house with a pool. i'v never had a pool so my question is when the pump comes on automaticaly (it has a timer)what position is the jandy valve supposed to be turned to the main drain or skimmer?

You can turn the valve so that all the suction is going to the drain at the bottom of the pool, this will suck any dirt or debris on the bottom of the pool through the drain and clean through the filter. If you turn the valve so the suction is going to the skimmer then you will be pulling any leaves or debris off the surface of the pool. You can also set the valve in a half way position so you are pulling from both the skimmer and main drain. I hope this helps.

Why do the Jandy valves list ID and OD for each valve?
 Reply

A  Answered on 1/23/2012 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

Each Jandy valve is designed to connect to two different size pipes. For example on a valve shown with ID 1 1/2" and OD 2", a 1 1/2" pipe can be glued inside the port or a 2" pipe can be glued on the outside of the port.

The Jandy 4715 valve is 1.5" id slip/ 2"od slip. The valve is approx 7" wide (top of T) and about 5 1/4" long (top of T to bottom).

I have this valve installed at my pump. I have a lot of air coming out of the pool jets and it doesn't stop. If I rotate the valve to vacuum and back to skimmer, it clears the air immediately. Do you have any suggestions?

I would recommend checking the gaskets/o-rings on the valve and pump housing. They may be letting air into the system.

Can this valve be turned off so no water flows out?
 Reply

Hello Bob,Yes, you can completely close one of the three ports. The handle on the valve has "Off" molded into the plastic, the location it is facing confirms that the port is closed off.

Just to be clear...We close off either one of the other two ports, correct?

Can these valves (4715) be reconfigured so that the "common" port is one of the sides of the tee rather than the bottom of the tee?

Dan, Yes it can. You'll have to remove the handle and adjust the diverter.

My Jandy 3 way valve leaks - is it most likely the O ring inside? My never lube valve has a #20 imprinted on the top edge - can you tell me which size it is?Watched the video to replace the guts of the valve - what is the item number for the replacement parts? Lastly my aqua pure chlorinator malfunctioned. The multi-prong plug literally melted away. Do you know what caused this. Can I replace the parts and wires myself or is it a difficult fix? Thank you.

Hi, Sam. You can use the Jandy Tune Up Kit (GOKIT72) to resolve the issue of the leaking valve. As for the AquaPure system,  if the PCB send the incorrect voltage through the cable it can cause the cable to melt. The cable can be easily replaced if the prongs on the cell is bad then you will have to replace the entire cell.

Is there a version of this valve with the threads already on the outside of the port?

That appears to be a Praher valve PROV31503U, Any of the new 3 way's will require you to re plum the system.

Jandy 4715; Will a 2" pipe go directly onto the ports, or is a coupler needed? I find conflicting information. Thanks. I have a Jandy valve now that has two 1.5 in, and a 1.5 into the pump. I want to replace it so I have a 2" pipe going into the pump.

A  Answered on 8/17/2021 by InyoPools Product Specialist Robert M.

A 2" pvc pipe would slip over the ports of this valve. A 1.5" pipe would slip into the ports. No coupler is needed for 1.5" or 2" pipe.

DO YOU CARRY A NEVER LUBE JANDY VALVE WHERE THE MEASUREMENT INSIDE IS 2" FROM SIDE TO SIDE AND 1 1/2 INCH FOR THE ONE VALVE GOING TO THE WATER DISCHARGE OUT LINE?? PLEASE ADVISE

Hi Vic.  Currently, all of the 3-way valves we stock have the same sized ports on all sides.  This generic version of the Never Lube valve 3 Way Valve 1 1/2 Inside / 2 Outside 25913-154-000 - 4715 has ports that accept 1-1/2" pipe (glues to the inside of the port) or 2" pipe (which glues to the outside of the port).  It is identical to the Never Lube valves and all parts are interchangeable.
