Is the EasyTouch Compatible with a home automation system like the RS-232 or RS-485?
 Reply

No the Easy Touch will not tie into a home automation system. You would need to go with the Pentair Intellitouch in conjunction with the Pentair I-Link. The I-link will tie the home automation system into the Intellitouch system. Here is a link where you may view the Pentair IntelliTouch Systems along with additiona acessories http://www.inyopools.com/controls_pentair.aspx You may view the I-Link home automation adapter through this link http://www.inyopools.com/Products/03500004032759.htm

What is the Pentair Intellichlor Dummy Cell used for?
 Reply

A  Answered on 7/1/2009 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

The Dummy cell is basically a cell with no internal parts, this cell is used during cleaning of the real cell. So when you remove the real cell for cleaning you would put the dummy cell in place of the real cell. After you have finished cleaning the real cell you would remove the dummy cell from the plumbing and place the real cell back in place. You may view or purchase the Dummy Cell here >http://www.inyopools.com/Products/03500001032551.htm

Is the salt included with the salt chlorine generator?
 Reply

A  Answered on 2/29/2012 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

No, salt is not included.  You would purchase the salt locally and the quantity will depend upon the number of gallons of water in your pool.  Use a salt that is at least 99.8% pure NaCl. The preferred salt is evaporated, granulated, food quality, and NON-iodized.  Avoid using salt with anti-caking agents like sodium ferrocyanide, also known as yellow YPS (prussiate of soda). These cause some discoloration of fittings and pool surface finishes. DO NOT use calcium chloride.

I have a Polaris Control unit that controls pool, spa, lights, features; do I need anything other than the Intellichlor 520555 to convert my system?
 Reply

Hello with a Polris system you would need the complete set IC40. Only if you have a Pentair Automation system can you use the cell with out the power center.

When I purchase the Easy touch 520555 with the ic 40 salt generator is the intellichlor power center built in the control panel or do I have to purchase the power center 520556 also.

Hi Les, Yes the power center is built into the control panel so you would not need to purchase the power supply separately.

Hi, Les. If the lights are on different circuits then it will require separate relays.

I'm almost done with all my plumbing and electrical. I plan to purchase a pentair 520545 and I read it can handle 150amp service. My question is what is the max size awg wire that I can use for service to it. I think the ground is #6. But for the the 2 hots and neutral I was going to use #1 awg wire. It's going to be about 150ft from the main panel. Will #1 awg work with this panel. Thank you so much.

Hi, Troy. I'm not able to confirm what size wire is needed, you will need to consult a licensed electrician.

Can I upgrade the easy 8 to the intelitouch so that I can control my heat pump?
 Reply

A  Answered on 7/25/2018 by InyoPools Product Specialist Lennox H.

Hi, Robin. The EasyTouch 8 system can control a heat pump. You don't need to upgrade to the IntelliTouch.  That will be an costly upgrade for just wanting to control your heat pump.

I have a 30,000 gal pool with a Pentair pump, Pentair pool/spa heater, pool and spa lights and a spa blower. I would like to be able to add on landscape lighting and a water feature in the future. I also want to be able to control all of the equipment remotely via an app on my iPhone or computer. Is it possible do all of this with this system? Also, does this system automatically administer the chlorine as needed? Does it also measure and possibly recommend other chemicals?

Hi, Richard. Yes, this system will be suitable for your pool needs presently and in the future. You can use the ScreenLogic Bundle - 522104 to remotely control all the equipment wired to this system. It does not automatically administer the chlorine as needed or measure and possibly recommend other chemicals.

I bought the Easy Touch without the salt system since I already had one. Ours no longer works so I am going to upgrade the cell and power center. I'd like to buy the power center that goes in the Easy Touch panel. Is that possible to do after the fact or will I have to install it outside the panel?

Hi, If it is your salt system that no longer works and you are wanting to replace the salt system, then unfortunately you would need the salt system and power supply. This would be the IC-40 Intellichlor Salt System that you would require. Unfortunately the EasyTouch with Salt System Power Supply is only sold as a complete unit with the entire control system.
