I have a inground pool in southern florida. Would the raypak R6250ti-e be suffencent enough to heat the water 80 degrees. The pool is 14'x28' average death is 5'. this would be for winter months average daytime temp. 75 degrees. Thankyou

I am planning to buy Raypak Model R6350ti for my 25000 gallon inground Pool. Do you think it will be enough. Also will the warranty be void if I install it myself. Moreover I have Jandy VFD pool pump and a chlorinator. Will this heat pump be able to communicate well with them. What other considerations should I have to have for this heat pump.

Hi Naveen, This Raypak Standard 117K BTU Digital Heat Pump can be used to heat your pool, however the bigger the unit the faster it will heat your pool. This unit has to be installed by a licenses and insured company in order to uphold the manufacture warranty. This unit can be use with your current set up as long as the flow rate is with the operating range. You would need to install a check valve between the outlet of the heat pump and chlorinator to prevent any back-flow of chlorinated water into the unit. Please refer to the Raypak Heat Pump Owner & Installation Manual for all installation requirements.

My pool size is 34 feet x 12 feet, average around 5 foot depth (I believe it is around 60,000 litres)
Temperature varies in winter, but averages around a low of 45 to a high of 55. Can you recommend a size heater for me?

I have an oddly shaped in-ground pool near Orlando, FL. It is 29 1/2' and at its widest point is 14'. I'd guess average depth at 4.5', somewhere between 12,000-14,000 gallons most likely. Would a 95,000 RayPak be sufficient, or do I need larger? Also, the electric is no problem, but is it easy to hook up the plumbing for this pump?

Good afternoon Chad, The plumbing would be no problem. Two lines in and out. I would recommend the lowest you go is the 117k btu. Lower will work but you just be running the heat pump a lot longer.

Hello Frank- Per Raypak the recommend a minimum of a 42 amp breaker and a maximum 60 amp breaker. I would recommend going with the 60 amp.

We live in Kentucky where we can have some pretty cold winters, also lots of shade around my small pool which is and issue keeping it warm... We are looking to upgrade to a 33 foot round pool but we only have electric radiant heat at our house no gas, propane, or heat pump at my home, the units that say heat pump dose that mean they are the own heat pump or I have to have a heat pump to run them? Have considered doing solar heat as well just worried it wont keep it warm enough into the night

If you are wanting to keep your pool running during the winter then you are going to want a heater, natural gas or propane, but if you are just wanting to extend your summer a month or two then a heat pump is the way to go.

I have a standard 15 x 30 3 to 6 ft pool with raised spa in south FL. Winter pool temps range from upper 60s to low 70s, want to raise temp to 85 to 87. Is this the right amount of btu for this without prolong runtime?

Hi, This 117K BTU unit will be sufficient for a 15'x30' pool. As far as runtime, that would depend on the outside temperature. I would recommend that you use a Solar Cover to prevent long run time.

You are going to want the 133,000 BTU model, R8350TI-E, for a pool of 65,000 gallons. It may take it a couple of days to get the temperature to your desired temperature, but once it is there that heat pump will do a good job maintaining that temperature.

Hi, Richard. You can program the desired temperature settings for the pool and spa. However, in order for the either body of water to be heated the unit has to be in the correct mode. The unit can not heat both the pool and spa at the same time.

I have a 24,000 gallon inground pool in Michigan. Will a heat pump get my pool water to 84-85 degrees and keep it there is the outside air temp goes down to 65? I'm replacing a 250K BTU Pentair NG Heater, and while I'd like to use less gas and save the money, I wonder if a heat pump can provide the heat I need.

Hi, John. A heat pump will not be able to keep your pool temperature at 85° with the outside temperature at 65 degrees. You will have to stick with a gas heater.

Hi, Harry. Based on the average temperature data I've gathered you may need a larger unit depending on the desired temperature and run time. For that size pool, I would recommend a 125,000 BTU heat pump and will only be effective from Mid June to Mid September.

What about warranty if I install this Raypak 6350 heat pump myself? In the warranty conditions of Raypak they say that the warranty becomes void if the installation is not done by a "licensed Installer" (whatever that may mean...). Of course I will make use of a licensed electrician to take care of the electrical part of the installation, but the mechanical part of the installation seems pretty straightforward. Will I really have no warranty, if I take care of the installation myself?

Are there any Raypak 100k-140k btu pool heat pumps that have a either a width or depth dimension of 29" or less. I must take it in between a concrete wall and concrete existing pony to place in position next to filter and pump, once in side I have plenty of room. My pool has a solar heating source (coils) and I would like to add a heat pump to extend the monthly usage. We live in Tucson. Hi, Mike. You're unable to run both units simultaneously. The units will have to be plumb parallel with a diverter valve to regulate water flow to the specific unit.

My 20 year-old Haywood HP5-6-3R (Flow rate 30 min and 70 max) has given up the ghost and I need to replace it. Several questions: Will the Raypak R6450TI-E work as a replacement? If so, I note that the intake and outlet are 2" PVC. My old Haywood is 1 1/2" PVC. Will that work or will I have to replumb all my lines (which will be a good-sized undertaking). Hi Frank, The Raypack has a min water flow of 15gpm and a max of 60gpm which is with in the same specifications you gave for your old Hayward. I can't find a BTU rating for that Hayward on the Internet so I am assuming you are matching the Btu range the same range. The Raypack has an amp rating of 42 amps so check with your local electrician to make sure the power requirements are the same. You should be able to glue a reducer bushing into each union on the Raypack heat pump to get back to your 1.5" plumbing. As long as your able to provide enough water flow through the system you should have no issues.

Hi, Gill. Each press of the UP or DOWN buttons will increase / decrease the pool heating setpoint temperature. Holding the UP or DOWN buttons down will speed up the change of the temperature values. Operation instructions are available on pages 12-29 of the Raypak Classic Series Heat Pump Manual.

Just had the Raypak 6450 heat pump installed. It replaced an old AquaCal 125. One odd thing - after the install, the PSI on my DE Filter went from 30 to 40psi. What happened?

Hi, Joseph. It's hard to say what caused the filter pressure to increase. The AquaCal 125 has a max flow rate of 70 and this unit max flow rate is 60. Try cleaning out the filter, not backwwash to see if the pressure drops.

My installer installed the heat pump, and it's heating. However, the water that gets shot back into the pool is filled with tons of tiny bubbles that: (1) make the water appear cloudy; and, (2) the pool needs a lot more chlorine. Has anyone encountered this? Is there a fix?

The air bubbles are likely from an air leak, please see How to Identify and Correct Air Leaks when you heat the water you find a demand for more chlorine just as you would in the summer season. I recommend checking the stabilizer and adjusting the cyanuric acid to the highest level you can raise it to in the respected ranges for your pool surface. This will help to better stabilize the chlorine levels.

Hi Mike, you do not need to install a fireman switch however I suggest that you confirm that it is not a code requirement for your area. Also, I would suggest installing a bypass so that if you ever need to divert water flow around the unit for any repairs or heat pump shutdowns you have that ready.

Hi Ana, yes this unit is sufficient to heat an 11-12k gallon swimming pool. Unfortunately, we do not install however we recommend having CPC(certified pool contractor) install these.

Hello Bob, The control is equipped with a mode that will heat the spa to the Spa Setpoint temperature for a specified period of time selected in the TIMED SPA mode setup. NOTE: The Spa setpoint temperature CANNOT be changed when operating in this mode. This functionality will override all other program settings for the period of time selected by the user during the TIMED SPA initiation.
