My pool is 8' at deep end and 3' at shallow end (hopper style). Will the Great White Pool Cleaner work at both depths?

Hi Sadie, Yes this would be a great pool cleaner your sized pool. The only question would be if you need to purchase any additional hose over the 32' which comes with the Great White Pool Cleaner. To determine if you need any addtional hose your would measure from your suction point (i.e. skimmer or dedicate vacuum port) to the furthest point away and then add 8' if this number exceeds 32' then you would need extra hose. For example if the furthest point away from your skimmer is 20' and you add 8' to this number you get 28' then you are good to go with the 32' of hose. If the furthest point away from your skimmer is 30' and you add 8' to this number to get 38' then you would need to add one extra section of 8' Great White Pool Cleaner Hose.

My GW will not go to shallow part of the pool. I tried so many combination of adjustments...no luck. What do I do now?

Gene, Have you tried removing any of the weights, this can help with the transition from the deep to shallow end of the pool.

Examine the lift brush mechanism as the cleaner is operating. To do this, you will have to turn the cleaner over while it is running and submerged. If the lift brush does not move to the “down” position within 2 minutes or less, call Customer Service at 1-800-831-7133

Will the GW pick up a layer of mud?
 Reply

A  Answered on 7/6/2015 by InyoPools Product Specialist Lennox H.

Hi Tom, The Great White Pool Cleaner can pick up mud, but not layers. Depending on hot thick the mud is the cleaner may not maneuver or perform properly. You will have to remove as much mud out of the pool using a manual vacuum then use the Great White Cleaner.

My pool has two skimmers. Is there any special actions I need to take while running the Great White in my pool?
 Reply

A  Answered on 7/11/2015 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

If you are having issues with not getting enough suction to the cleaner then you could shut off one of the skimmers while the great white is operating, this would mean the full suction of the pump would be going to the cleaner.

Hi Donna, The gears could be stuck causing the lift brush not to retract. I would recommend taking the unit apart and examine the gears. Instructions can be found in the Sta-Rite Great White Owners Manual.

Hi, Bobby. It sounds like the gears that control the 3 Leg Cam is stuck keeping the Lift Brush engaged causing the cleaner to go in circles.

My Kreepy Krauler Great White is not making flat contact with the bottom of the pool. The front end (Where the handle is) is raised off the bottom of the pool. The clapper is flapping away and the filter is clean and so is the skimmer basket. I have plenty of suction and my poop pump is a few months old. I dont see any obvious cracks, missing or broken parts. Any suggestions?

Hi, Chris. I'd suggest checking the hose length, hose float and or weight. These can cause the problem that you're experiencing. Also, reviewing the installation and troubleshooting sections of the Sta-Rite Great White Owners Manual has suggestions that you can try.

how to remove and replace ratchet tab (gw9523)
 Reply

A  Answered on 11/10/2017 by InyoPools Product Specialist Lennox H.

Hi, Donald. To remove the metal ratchet tab you will first need to remove the center brush. Slide the tap out of its slot sideways toward the end of cleaner body.  Replace it by sliding in a new ratchet tab until it is flush with the edge of the plastic holder. See page 16 of the Sta Rite Great White Owners Manual

The head keeps on heading for the main drain even when I close off the suction. How do I adjust it to avoid or go over the main drain head.

This is a common problem among cleaners that have been in a pool for a while. You have already tried adjusting the suction, so what I would suggest is rearranging the sections of hose and moving them to different places. Depending on the age of the hoses they sometimes form a memory with how they bend and end up reverting to the same place on a consistent basis (i.e. running over your drain over and over).
