Would this pump be good for a 10,000 gallon pool with 1-1/2 “ pipe or would the Hayward variable super pump be best?

Hello, The waterway power defender has 2" ports and would not hook up to your 1.5-inch ports. you can use this link here for properly sizing a pool pump for your pool to help a little further

Does this pump need 110 or 220 v electricity. I have 110 currently with my old pump. Want to upgrade wondering if I need to call an electrician to run me a 220 v line.

Yes, you will need 230 voltage in order to power the pump.

I have a 15 year old Hayward Northstar 1hp pump on a 14000 gallon pool in Arizona. I am looking to replace the old single speed pump with a new variable speed pump and wanted to know what you thought would be the best flow rate, and hp for my needs

Hi, Wmlipe. In order to make a pump recommendation, I will need to know the specific NorthStar Pump model and or the Total Dynamic Head (TDH) of your pool.

The Hayward TriStar VS Pump 1.5HP - W3SP3202VSP is the replacement to the current pump. If you want more efficiency for flow rates you can replace it with the Hayward TriStar VS Pump 2.7 HP - W3SP3206VSP The VS pumps are only for 230 Volt wire connection only, they will not operate with 115V.

I am replacing a very old hayward sp 2 hp pump with an ao smith k48n2n104 motor. I'm looking for a reasonably priced variable speed pump. Can you recommend some options?

Hello April, based on the model k48n2n104  you have a total HP of 2.6. For a variable speed pump, we would recommend the Waterway Power Defender 270 Variable Speed Pool Pump 2.7 HP 230V - PD-VSC270.

I’m considering purchasing this pump. Does it come with a 230 plug (“whip”) or does the pump need to be hardwired to a 230 V line? Thank you,
 Reply

A  Answered on 5/6/2021 by InyoPools Product Specialist Craig C.

Hello Herb.  This pump does not come supplied with a 230V connection cable (whip).  A typical installation would be hard-wired to a 230V power supply.  It would be advisable to consult state or local regulations to ensure compliance with any applicable codes prior to pump installation.
