Please note that capacitors store an electric charge and should be handled with the utmost caution and care. We do not encourage handling a capacitor without any type of safety measures in place and highly recommend contacting a professional service company for repair/replacement. For those that feel comfortable changing the capacitor here's  >How to replace a pool pump capacitor. In order to match up the capacitor you will need more specifications on the capacitor. You will need to match the voltage, the MFD, whether or not the capacitor is a >run or >start type and the actual dimensions of the capacitor body.

I have a 2-speed Emerson spa motor and it won't start. Once you turn the shaft it will take off and run good. Is it the capacitor?

Hello Jerry - It sounds like it may be a start capacitor. You can use our troubleshooting guide to see if this is indeed the problem.

Hi, my pump currently has a A.O.Smith 628318-313 capacitor in it. Your site indicates that this part is a substitute part for it, can you confirm this part will fit my 628318-313 housing? Thanks.

The RUN CAPACITOR, 50 MFD (RD-50-370) http://www.inyopools.com/Products/07501352014039.htm is the suggested replacement, click the link to add the capacitor to the cart to view shipping options, at the view cart screen enter the shipping zip code for the fees and options. Again, please verify the measurements of the current capacitor match the size of this one.

I have a Pentair Whisperflow Pump, Model WFE-6, part# 011514. 2 Run capacitors have failed in the past 24 months. The original was rated at 50.0 uF. My pool guy replaced with a 35.0 uF. It failed and he replaced it with the same. Pentair says I need "Motor Run Capacitor 370V 50 MFD 628318-313". Is this correct? I will order one if you say Yes.

I have a red lion 1.5 hp pump. It won't start. I don't see anything wrong with the capacitor. The winding test OK. There is power 230 volts going into it. It ran one morning, and a few minutes later won't start. It does not hum. Wondering where the problem is? What to test?

Hi Jerry, there can be a few motor parts to test. Here is a guide that we put together called "Using the Proper Test Equipment to Troubleshoot Pool Motors" that may assist in pinpointing the issue.
