What will cause D.E. To get into the pump filter basket then into the pool?

Hi Gordon, If the Diaphragm Gasket is bad D.E. Powder can get back into the pool and then into the pump strainer basket.

It's going to depend on the feet of head, or the distance between your pump and the main drain and the size of your filter. You don't want a pump that has too high of flow rate that your filter can't handle.

How do install this gasket? Take off all the nuts, etc?

Hi. You will need to remove all of the bolts and nuts in order to install this gasket. We do not have instruction for replacing this gasket.

The part number 14-150-1048 comes with the bolt, nut, and washer. You would need 12 of them.

I re-installed the cover with the bump handle on my EC40 after it was cleaned and stored from last season, tightening the bolts by alternating opposite sides of the cover, and applying even torque to all bolts. Turn on the filter, and surprise, the whole cover is leaking like Niagara Falls. Water coming out evenly from all around the cover. What happened?

Hi, Lou, I would recommend that you check the installation of the Diaphragm Gasket. That is the only reason you filter will leak as described.

Is there a sealant/ lubricant recommend for installing this part?

You do not need to use lubricant or sealant on this gasket but you can use a small amount of magic lube in order to help keep the gasket from dry rotting.
